WHO WE ARE

Metro East Web Academy (MEWA) is an online K-12 public charter school approved by the Oregon Department of Education. The school's web-based curriculum meets Oregon state standards and all instruction is provided by highly qualified teachers.

Each MEWA student receives a personalized education program designed to meet their unique needs.

We allow students to login anytime, anywhere. The online learning process is supported in a variety of ways.

  • Daily e-mail communication with teachers

  • Face-to-face check-in sessions with instructors

  • Field trips and community service projects with other MEWA students

  • Access to grade level Student Success leaders for extra help and communication

  • Optional daily virtual Support Labs for accountability and assignment help

  • Optional daily on-campus Support Labs for accountability, assignment help, and face-to-face time with instructors

Metro East Web Academy is specifically designed to be a safe, inclusive option for students in elementary, middle, or high school who find that a traditional classroom setting does not meet their needs. Whether your student feels held back by a traditional school or feels disengaged, disenchanted, or unsafe for any reason, there’s a place for them here at MEWA.

Our Mission

At Metro East Web Academy, we care about the whole child. We believe all children should have access to receive a great education, while also understanding that our children need to feel well socially and emotionally to be able to succeed academically. Where the classic ‘reading, writing, and arithmetic’ are the meat and potatoes of a robust education, social and emotional learning is the seasoning.

At MEWA, we follow all Oregon state educational guidelines, while taking it a step further and incorporating material to help build confidence, resilience, and success. Lessons about things like tackling stress, managing anxiety, building healthy relationships, self-advocacy, and understanding the perspectives of others are incorporated into homeroom lessons taught by our school counselors.

No two children learn in the same way or thrive best in the same environment. Here at MEWA, our mission is to provide multiple pathways for student success while breaking down educational barriers to help create equity, opportunities, and success for students with a diverse range of needs.
