Mewa's K-6 Elementary Program

We are excited to introduce you to the Metro East Web Academy K-6 Program.  MEWA is a free, online public charter school sponsored by the Gresham-Barlow School District servicing students and families all over Oregon. We offer an outstanding alternative pathway for elementary students that includes the support of effective and experienced licensed teachers, as well as a partnership with our highly-rated curriculum partner, FlexPoint.

MEWA’s K-6 program offers a flexible online learning environment to meet the needs and lifestyles of a variety of family situations. Children who struggle with focus, need more one-on-one or small group interaction, or would benefit from above-grade level coursework will find that the program is well-suited to meet their individual needs. Also, students who suffer from anxiety or who have experienced social or emotional challenges in the mainstream school setting will thrive with the hybrid approach of our program, which blends students working at home with optional in-person events and support. We offer individualized education plans, social activities, social-emotional education, and field trips to round out students’ academic experiences at MEWA.

If you know of a child who you believe would benefit from MEWA’s unique educational structure, please contact us at your earliest convenience.  We are more than happy to meet with prospective parents/guardians who want to find out more about what we do. We hope that as you continue getting to know your students this year, you will take MEWA into consideration as you encounter students that are struggling to succeed in a traditional classroom.

MEWA K-6 offers:

  • Parents/guardians and students have the support of highly qualified teachers, counselors and administrators.

  • Regular assessments and teacher check-ins provide feedback and direction for student coursework.

  • Above and below grade level curriculum placement is available, based on individual needs.

  • Students participate in weekly live virtual lessons with the teacher and grade level peers.

  • Flexible schedules and individual learning plans to ensure each student’s success.
